When we first decided to join "Team Green" and not find out the gender of our baby, I spent hours on Pinterest gathering inspiration for a gender neutral nursery. It seemed like most surprise baby nurseries were either painted grey, beige, or a subtle shade of blue. I really liked these colour schemes and considered all of them; however, I really like bold colours and wanted something brighter. After flipping through countless Benjamin Moore paint chips, I finally chose a favourite: Mayan Green!
Baby Henry's safari theme nursery is the happiest room in our home. I love the way the sun comes through the window on cloudless afternoons. Henry sleeps in his bassinet in our bedroom at night, but he happily naps in the crib in his nursery during the day.
Right now we use the nursery mostly for diaper changes and naps, but we're looking forward to nighttime sleep and family storytime here in the very near future. By then we should have baseboard trim!
We finished installing new floors on the Sunday afternoon and on Monday Roger assembled Henry's crib. I think bending over to help him put in the lower screws is what made baby decide to come. My water broke early Tuesday morning.
We need to put something fancy above the change table! I'm fearful of putting anything heavy up there, so I'm thinking a wall decal quote or some light canvas prints. TBD.
Just some nursery essentials...
