You know Christmas is coming when pomegranates are on sale! These little guys fly under the fruit radar all year and then "poof!" they become the main attraction; it's no wonder I couldn't resist buying seven of them at the grocery store. Needless to say, I have been enjoying pomegranates all week. This bright and festive fruit is high in antioxidants and super fun to peel - well, at least I think so. I love the tedious nature of this task. I love gingerly picking out the seeds and plopping them one-by-one into a bowl. I don't care if the outcome is berry-coloured ink stains on my eyelids; I feel like the benefits strongly outweigh the mess. My boyfriend doesn't particularly side with my pomegranate-peeling excitement. I suppose juice-infused countertops, an irreversibly pink cutting board and pom-splattered clothing are a thing only a true pomegranate enthusiast would endure.
My suggestion is freshly-plucked pomegranates in a bowl with greek yogurt. So yummy and healthy! What's your favourite way to eat this seedy fruit?
