Finally Finished: Blue Bathroom with Black and White Accents

A few weeks ago I shared photos of the beginning stages to our main floor bathroom makeover. Today, I am happy to announce that the renovations are complete! Guests can now be directed to the powder room without me apologizing in advance for its datedness--a truly wonderful thing. I hope you all like the new look as much as we do! July 19 - Flowers Is it just me or do these artificial flowers look surprisingly life-like? They are a collection of old and new finds. July 19 - Toilet Paper We chose to accent the blue walls with pops of black, white, and chrome. My excitement over this space-saving toilet paper holder reminds me how old I am getting to be. July 19 - Yoga Ladies These acrylic yoga ladies were very expensive at one point in time, but we were so lucky to get them for free! Roger's mom gifted them to us and now they have a happy home atop the toilet. I searched every hardware store and what felt like every corner of the internet for weeks before finding the perfect floating shelves in the dimensions that we wanted. July 19 - Mainfloor Bathroom

The finishing touch? Trim! We're installing it tomorrow when the weather is a bit nicer. I just couldn't wait to show you the big reveal today! Let me know what you think in the comments and be sure to check out theย before pictures.

Bring out the Bubbly: We’re now “officially” Engaged

A few months have passed since our joyously wonderful spectacular romantic March proposal in Central Park; however, Roger and I just got around to officially celebrating our engagement with family and friends this past July weekend. My lovely parents, whom I am entirely grateful for, opened up our beautiful backyard for a full-blown buffet barbecue lunch equipped with lawn games and oodles of champagne. We couldn't have picked a more beautiful day to host the party or better people to enjoy it with. Mine and Roger's families live a hefty five hours apart, so we tried our best to coordinate the best time for everyone to mix and mingle before the wedding next summer. As is often the case with life events, there is never the perfect time; not everyone could make the trek (we missed you dearly), but we very much look forward to both sides of the family connecting in the near future! Roger and I are so thankful to everyone who attended and helped out with our special day, especially those who kept my mom and dad sane throughout the preparations. My parents had quite literally ripped apart their kitchen one week before the party (they re-stained all their cabinetry) and apparently the pool turned cloudy before blue; however, there were no signs any stress on the actual day because we had so many helping hands. My mom's friends made the hors d'oeuvres, helped with the set-up process, and served throughout the day. Nicolette (my mom's friend, my former boss, and amazing pastry chef) made the most beautiful one-of-a-kind cake for us. Nazima (one of my bestest friends and bridesmaid) came to my house early, took it upon herself to make sure everyone's glasses were always full, and fixed my dress like a boss. Grant (my oldest brother) gifted to us a homemade game of Washers, which we enjoyed playing all afternoon. My aunt and uncle brought their famous Caesar salad, the most amazing gluten-free French macarons, and made a killer sangria. Even though my Maid-of-Honour, Tiffani, had conflicting plans, she was there in spirit along with the top-quality pulled pork that her boyfriend, Mat from Cookery Catering, made from scratch. I could go on and on and mention everyone, but each and every person who attended made the day less stressful and so much fun. A big shout-out to all of our out of town guests, especially Roger's mom, aunt, cousin, brother and sister-in-law, for travelling all that way to spend time with us! It was so nice to see you all in my hometown! We are so lucky to have such thoughtful people in our soon-to-be married life! Thank you, thank you, thank you. And now I shall share a million pictures from the day, taken with my mom's camera. OOTD: Stripes, Short Shorts & Keds

Happy Tuesday! It rained for most of the day and I couldn't be bothered with wearing anything too nice (or at least nice enough to document), so I shall share with you one of my favourite outfits from a couple of weeks back. I'm beyond thrilled at my purchase of a new pair of Keds sneakers and I find myself sporting them at every casual opportunity. (Mostly dogwalks and grocery shops of late.) Originally I wanted the white eyelet lace ones, but I compromised and bought them in navy in hopes that they will stay cleaner for longer. Don't be surprised if I buy them in white in the very near future though; I think they'd look absolutely wondrous with faded ankle-length skinny jeans! Easy, breezy, and comfortable... I'll definitely be wearing this again this summer. June 7 - Weird face I just freakin' adore these shorts. Love. Love. Love. They're a wee bit cheeky, but that's why I'm choosing to wear them at age 25 and not 40. One day I will miss the bum that fits into such a pair ๐Ÿ˜‰ June 7 - Casual clothes June 7 - Backside I hope everyone had a wonderful Tuesday! Ours was a bit uneventful despite a good workout at the gym and multiple teas at home in our comfies. Let's cross our fingers for nothing but sunshine and excitement for the rest of the week! OOTD: Teal Takeover

This post highlights the outfit I wore last Thursday. It's an unconventional creation as I chose to layer a heavy peplum top over one of my favourite sundresses. Had I been going anywhere else but work, I would have simply worn the spaghetti strap dress; however, covering my shoulders was of utmost importance. My modest upper half allowed me to accentuate the best part about this ensemble: my teal shoes! I got my hair highlighted over the weekend for the first time in a year, which I'm having mixed feelings about already. My stylist did a fantastic job and I absolutely love being a brighter blonde, but my hair is so healthy and au natural here--I might miss the ombre look!
